You live your whole life doing things every single day, that add up to months, and then years… Do you feel that you sometimes waste your time or do things that you later on regret? How to plan for and ensure that you make the most of your life…

As a blogger on life tips, I’ve been reading, putting into practice and can see improvements myself. In this post, I’ll share with you my top 11 tips for making the most of your life:

1. Life purpose

The very first step is knowing your ‘why’. What’s the key purpose of your life? Having identified this, you then see your life vision and can work towards organizing your daily life, to achieve your ‘true dreams’!

2. Set goals

There are various goal-setting techniques. The SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) model is often used.

Your set goals should help you measure progress towards what you want to achieve. Review them regularly for validity. Goals may change, or once achieved, you move on to set new goals. However, your life purpose/vision is of more long-term (strategic) importance.

3. To-do list

Plan and organize how you spend your time with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly to-do lists. Make sure you concentrate on the important/urgent tasks first, take regular breaks and eliminate unnecessary/redundant items on your list.

4. Wake up early

Research has shown that the most successful people wake up early every day. Fighting against the urge to hit the snooze button is a challenge, but if you wake up within a few seconds of hearing the alarm clock, you’ve won the battle! Look forward to a fulfilling day!!

5. Morning routine

Have a morning ritual. Mine looks like this… I wake up, open the window to breathe in fresh oxygen and to get sunlight to wake me up properly. Then I make my bed, drink at least 2 glasses of warm water, meditate and exercise. While I freshen up, I also make sure to include my skincare routine. I have a proper healthy breakfast which includes oats and then check my emails.

6. Ongoing learning

Have a positive attitude towards learning, personal growth, improving your skills in both your personal and professional life. This is an essential part of your journey to making the most of your life!

7. Unwind/socialize

While work brings you closer to your set goals, you should also relax and recharge. Taking breaks at work increases productivity. Talk to colleagues at lunchtime, spend time with family at home and meet friends over the weekend.

8. Say ‘no’

Refusing to take on more than you can/should isn’t selfish! While you do care about others, you should be reasonable. Saying ‘no’ when needed allows you to concentrate on your real activities, allocating time for the things that you should really be doing.

9. Daily journalling

Journalling helps you to reflect, write, better understand your emotions/ideas and plan for future actions. You may simply keep a record of things that happened during the day, express gratitude, track progress towards your New Year resolutions, monitor your personal development goals, and more.

10. Proper sleep

This is primordial and often overlooked! Enough sleep is vital to your nervous system. With around 8 hours of sleep, you should feel refreshed and alert.

Have no screen time before bedtime, use conducive sleeping environments such as comfortable bedding, clothes, lighting, and room temperature. Drinking a warm cup of milk with honey also helps. Avoid caffeine, alcoholic drinks and smoking late in the day.

11. Inner peace

There’s nothing more important than your happiness. If you have inner peace, you’ll feel great! The good news is that inner peace starts from within so you can control how you feel, how you react and brighten your mood by yourself.

Conclusion

To sum up, know your life purpose, set the right goals for yourself, have an action plan and last but not least, realize that true happiness comes from within. Make the most of your life, while making the most of every day! Do you have any tips to share? Please do so. Thank you!

  2. ….I have been on that path. In virtually the same order.
They are things as adults, most of us already know. We just have to be reminded now and again. Thank you for the reminders.
In closing, I just want to say that we have to find our purpose in life, our passion. We can know when we’ve found our true passion in life.
We don’t need an alarm clock. Our PASSION wakes us!
We get up early, and we stay up late…yet we make sure we get the hours of sleep we need, to wake up excited, as to what the day will bring. What nugget of wisdom. What true insight to ourselves, that promotes our ability to properly execute the day’s plan. Live each moment with your specific goal in mind. Never losing sight of it. Work hard at it. It will not even seem like work, but an adventure, if it is truly your passion.
Follow these tips and you can’t go wrong.
Thank you for reminding us of how to live our lives to it’s fullest!

  3. Important tips that anyone can “tweak” a little to fit their circumstances. As many here have noted, inner peace is the BIG ONE. n my experience, it often “happens” when the other tips are observed.
