Have you ever considered growing your own vegetables near your house? Have you thought of the benefits it could bring to you and your family?  You don’t need a large plot of land to do that, nor much time to dedicate… and it’s fun!

The recent social distancing and lockdown (at the time of writing this blog post, the COVID-19 pandemic) have shown us the importance of having healthy foods that are also easily accessible at all times.  I’m a self-improvement blogger and in this blog post, I’ll share with you some benefits of growing your own vegetables.  I don’t do the gardening myself, but I do have freshly-available herbs, some vegetables, and fruits in my yard.

Find 8 benefits:

1. Value your home garden

Make the most of available space in the form of land.  It could even be a tiny garden in a corner outside your house, backyard, patio, or you could even take advantage of your terrace or rooftop to grow some vegetables, fruits, or herbs.  If you’ve got a larger space or land available, you may wish to go for planting more and make some profit out of it (as a side-hustle) by selling any extra harvest you make.

2. Healthy foods at your doorstep

You’ll be blessed with healthier and more nutritious vegetables, right at your doorstep.  When you grow your own greens, you can control the amount of fertilizers and pesticides you use.  Thus, you benefit from better foods.

3. Nutritious organic foods

Growing organically requires much care, but you get more nutritious veggies, fruits, and herbs.  It involves a special method since you normally need to restrict the use of pesticides and fertilizers.  However, you’ll enjoy tastier and healthier dishes out of them!

4. Your favourite ones

You can make sure that your choice of favourite produce is available for yourself.  Indeed, they might not be available all year round, if seasonal.  However, as far as possible, you’ll benefit from relishing them easily.

5. Save money

Of course, you’re likely to save money when you have your garden.  For example, you may spend less, since you won’t have to buy many veggies and other greens from the market or hypermarket.  You’ll, however, incur some expenses on the seeds you need to plant, and some basic gardening tools.  However, once you’ve initially equipped yourself, you won’t have much to invest all the time.

6. Gardening as a hobby

Enjoy yourself while you spend time planting, watering, and generally, taking care of your home garden.  Gardening is a wonderful hobby.  Take pride in seeing your plants grow and bloom!

7. Teach children skills

It’s a great opportunity to get the kids learning about the beauty of nature.  They will not only learn new things but also respect the environment.  It’s an enjoyable outdoor activity.

8. Close to nature

Looking after your home garden, you’ll feel close to nature.  It’s calming, soothing, and relaxing… A sort of therapy in itself, known as nature therapy.

Conclusion

Have a home garden, grow your favourite greens, and enjoy healthy, nutritious foods, all at a better price.  Gardening can become a hobby, and being surrounded by nature, is therapy.  Would you like to share your experience?  Please do so.  If you know someone who needs to read my post, please share it.  Thank you!!
