Knowing what you want to achieve in life and making it happen, is key to a fulfilling life.  Live the life you intend to live and be happy.  Many people never really take the time to ask themselves what they want out of their lives.

In this blog post, I’ll share some life tips, more particularly on the importance of knowing and having a life purpose.  I’m not a life coach, but a blogger who is personally passionate about self-improvement, and blogs about it with fervour!  I’ll also be sharing some of my thoughts, experience, and opinion.

Now, let’s dive into it…

See 4 reasons you should know your life purpose:

1. Your true ‘raison d’être’

This refers to your ‘reason for being’, your true self.  Who are you?  What are your innate qualities, dreams, and desires?  It’s not what the world dictates you should be, not what’s expected of you as social norms, not being in the rat race.  This is truly and proudly who you naturally are!

After spending years moving from company to company, I left the corporate world to truly live life on my terms.  This wasn’t within the norms in my environment, but I’m satisfied to be doing what I love and believe in!  I look forward to my life goals, knowing that they’re genuine.

2. Your sense of direction

Your life purpose gives meaning and a sense of direction to your life.  What life goals you want to set for yourself, what key choices you’ll make in your life, are you making the right decisions, and so on.  This is your guide towards the future and actions that you’ll take to get there.

Be it long-term or shorter-term goals, they all contribute towards your moving and progressing forward.  If you feel lost and disappointed, remembering your life purpose can give you all the courage you need to keep going.  Never give up and stay motivated.

3. Your guide towards success

Remembering your life purpose will help guide you towards achieving the type of success that you intend to achieve.  Others may say what is generally expected of you, and that you’re being unsuccessful from their point of view.  However, you know what you dream of, the goals you’ve set for yourself.  You’re working, progressing and you’re going to make it!

4. Your true success

Success means different things to different people.  It’s up to you to define what it is in your life.  Knowing your life purpose will help you do that.

Success could mean to always see your family safe and happy, it could be having a great career, becoming financially independent, or whatever you value the most.  I personally don’t find myself content by doing things just because others call it being successful. It depends on person to person… It could be more intrinsically motivated for some and extrinsic for others.

Some famous quotes

“After a point of time, when you get success and fame, money and everything, the purpose of life has to be redefined. For me, I think that purpose is to build bridges. Artists can do that very easily, more than politicians.” – A. R. Rahman

“If you can tune into your purpose and really align with it, setting goals so that your vision is an expression of that purpose, then life flows much more easily.” – Jack Canfield

“Set out with some definite purpose in life and accomplish that purpose. There is little that the human mind can conceive that is not possible of accomplishment. The thing to do is to make up your mind what you are going to drive for, and let nothing stand in the way of its ultimate accomplishment.” – Charles M. Schwab

Conclusion

To sum up, find your life purpose and it will help you live a more fulfilling life.  You define your own success and feel genuinely happy in life, through your ‘raison d’être’.  Do you have any tips to share?  Please post a comment below.  Thank you!!

  1. Not an easy thing to find out with society pulling us thins way and that and distracting us. But, it’s possible and the more we prioritize our purposes, I’m convinced, the more it’ll be revealed to us.

  2. I’m 33 and still not sure what my life’s purpose is. But I do have a sense of why I was put on this earth and working towards that direction. But it’s so important to figure it out to give your life a sense of direction. Great post!
