Influencer blogs can support relevant brands.  People prefer recommendations from those they trust and follow.  Read to see how you can take a better approach to your articles.

I work on my terms in marketing.  I also blog as a side hustle, which started as a hobby.  My published works include brand sponsorships, reviews, and affiliate marketing.  I generally don’t do sponsorships as my main activity, but rather from time to time.

1. Blogger vs influencer

Do you wonder how influencer blogs can succeed?  While the term applies mostly to social media, blogs also benefit.  From newbies to more advanced writers, read my article for more.

Influencer marketing is powerful.  It’s more common on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.  However, sites can also benefit.

Sites are often more conducive to affiliate marketing.  They go hand in hand.  Vloggers on social media are influential, but they depend more on the algorithms.

Through articles, you can benefit from an SEO approach.  Your hard work could generate leads for years.  On social media, the platform controls who sees your content.

2. Articles vs videos

When you write, you can do so without showing your face.  With videos, you’re more likely to speak on camera.  You have a better connection when your viewers can see you.

Brands often work with vloggers on social media.  It’s a quick way to get leads.  When a video is shown in the feed of followers, they quickly visit the brand’s landing page.

Articles don’t normally have the same effect as vlogs.  However, some brands could prefer written posts for campaigns.  While paid sponsorships cost the brand more, bloggers with affiliate links can get paid only if they make a sale.  This is an advantage for the brand.

3. What is blog influence?

You may ask how articles gain sponsorships.  From my experience, offering a variety of platforms in a package can help.  I’ve done package options that include articles, as well as shares on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Niche sites have a more targeted audience.  Even with a relatively small pool of leads, they can drive better-quality traffic.  Instead of spending lots on a huge influencer, sometimes brands prefer to work with many smaller creators.

It depends on what the brand desires.  Articles that are well-optimized for SEO, can drive visitors for years, while social media tends to last for a few days.  This is a strength for bloggers.

4. Blog influence on consumers

Your leads can turn into clients.  You can nurture them for your products or services.  You can also drive traffic to brands that you partner with.

Through videos, your viewers see you.  You can build trust.  When writing, you don’t show your face.  However, show genuineness, through your writing voice.

When your readers trust you, you can recommend products.  These are solutions to their problems.  Through affiliate marketing, sites generate sales for brands.

5. Blog influence on decision making

When readers trust you, they are likely to find value in your recommendations.  For example, I help solopreneurs.  Being one myself, I live through and know the pain points.  I also receive feedback from my readers and email subscribers.

With first-hand info, I can understand the issues my readers face.  I use some tools that I test personally.  I can then show my readers how these products will help them.

6. Carefully select your niche

Having a niche and even a sub-niche is often best.  Unless you’re a huge multinational, you can’t speak to everyone.  Use good targeting.

You need to speak to the right people.  Your solution should be right for them.  You can always learn and improve through feedback.  Choose the right products to promote.

7. Develop the right skills

I started Tips from Sharvi as a hobby.  It was a means to find others and share my ideas on self-improvement.  It then niched further down to specifically helping bloggers and solopreneurs.

The tools that I use can be helpful to you.  With the same or similar activities, you can find useful tools.  These recommendations can save you much time and energy, as I’ve tried and tested them.

8. Optimize your platforms for SEO

Search engines are powerful.  When you go for keyword research, you have better chances of ranking.  Drive relevant traffic through search engines.

AI chatbots have changed the way people search for info.  EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) supports high-quality content.  With technology, you should adapt all the time.

I still see the benefits of SEO.  Articles that used to drive the most traffic to my site, still do.  Investing in a premium version of an SEO tool has helped me a lot.

9. Value your insights

Take a look at your stats. They tell you a lot about how your platforms perform. Use the data for better strategy and decisions.

I use GA4, and Jetpack stats as well.  I also check social media insights.  My newsletter service provider also provides stats.

Refer to the goals you set for yourself.  Use performance data as an indication of progress.  Decide if you’re satisfied, or do you need to bring changes.

Some key indications of your blog influence:

  • Reach, impressions, and bounce rate
  • Reaction, comments, and other engagement metrics
  • How your content resonates with your audience
  • How relevant your content is to your ideal personas
  • How much quality backlinks your site gets
  • How much sales do you generate

10. Spread your risks when monetizing

Although working with brands is interesting, don’t put all your eggs in one basket.  Spread your risk, as anything can change.  Diversify your income sources.

I do ads and affiliate marketing more often.  Sponsorships are rarer on my platforms.  I adopted this approach, as I prefer a flexible schedule.  Working only 4 to 5 hours a day suits me.

If you sell your own products, it could bring in more revenue.  However, be ready to work longer hours, if needed.  If you offer 1:1 coaching, you should also consider when your clients are available.

Conclusion

You may be a newbie or more experienced.  Polish your blog influence by adopting a better approach.  If you need to hone your skills, find online courses and tools that I support.
