Find blog freebie ideas to grow your email list.  Visitors come to your site in various ways.  However, if you don’t encourage them to come back, you lose out.  Offering lead magnets is helpful to contact them again.

Being a solopreneur for 12 years, I’ve also been a blogger for nearly 8 years (updated).  As a newbie, I saw that those who visit once might never find my site again.  I then discovered the benefits of lead magnets!

Email lists are better than social media.  You can better control when your subscribers get your messages.  Secondly, those who give you their email address, are the most interested readers.

The power of lead magnets

Lead magnets are gifts that you offer to your readers.  It’s an opt-in to subscribe to your email list, from a landing page.  When they do subscribe, you deliver the giveaway automatically through your Content Management System (CMS).

When someone chooses to give you their email address, you can contact them.  Send them relevant high-quality content.  It’s crucial to be compliant and not spam.

Email marketing is a powerful tool when used correctly.  Read my other post, if you want to find the advantages of email lists for solopreneurs.

My favorite is the checklist.  Matching my niche is the ultimate productivity checklist.  I share self-improvement for bloggers and digital solopreneurs.  Working smart is key to my audience.

A checklist is easy to create.  It must be helpful.  It’s a quick way to find the tips, easy to understand, and apply.

Strategic approach to creation

You don’t create a lead magnet randomly.  Take a strategic approach.  Consider your niche and your ideal personas.  You want to solve the problems your potential clients face.

If you already have a product, your gift should be related to it.  In doing so, you can target interested leads at the top of the sales funnel.  They’re the ones who are at the awareness stage.

Once they join your list, you keep in touch. Provide helpful content and nurture them. You can then offer your paid products. You may see my other article on attraction marketing and the sales funnel.

Brainstorm best options

Make a list of possible good freebie ideas.  Choose the best ones.  Have in mind what you either sell or plan to sell.  Your gift should attract the right leads.

If you don’t have your own products or services, think of what you promote.  For example, the affiliate products you post about.  Are email opt-in subscribers likely to need what you sell later?

My productivity freebie is well chosen.  I’ve partnered with a productivity app.  In the future, if I do start my own digital products, they’ll support working smarter.

Choose niche relevant

Your focus should be your ideal audience.  Would you like to gather thousands of uninterested leads?  Chances are that such an approach could result in no or few sales.  Not to mention that you risk paying more for your CMS needlessly.

If you have different ideal client personas, create specific incentives for each one.  When they subscribe, use segmentation or tags to organize your CMS email list.  Send relevant and timely content to the right readers.

Solve a crucial issue

Find the pain points.  Don’t waste time on creating unnecessary incentives.  Test and even ask directly.

Email your existing subscribers to find out what they’re facing.  Create a survey form, and share it on social media.  Use polls as well.

Ask in Facebook groups and forums.  If you have one, use your own Facebook group.  Join other groups that have a relevant audience to find ideas.

Compelling descriptions and CTAs

Prefer freebie ideas for orders in mind.  In other words, create one that will maximize your monetization results.  Add a strong description and CTAs.

No matter how helpful your gifted content is, if no one sees it, it isn’t effective.  They often say ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’.  However, people tend to do so.

You have only a few seconds to catch their attention.  Have a concise yet powerful description.  It shows your ideal leads why they need it.  The right CTAs support taking action on time, to opt-in.

Get creative with graphics

After you’ve done the content creation, there’s a little more.  You could have used text, video, screen recording, audio, or any other format.  Add attractive graphics.

Use a free platform, such as Canva or any other.  Be sure to check the terms and compliance before using any photos, elements, music, etc.

Even if you’re not a professional graphic designer, you can still create beautiful designs.  I use free tools and avoid complicated work.  As a non-professional, a simple and minimalistic approach is easier for me.

Promote your lead magnet

Once you’ve polished your work, get it in front of the world.  Post on your blog, social media channels, and even your existing email list.  Some Facebook groups allow self-promotion in specific threads as well.

Giving an incentive to join your email list helps.  Your subscribers receive your helpful tips.  You also can contact them for your new launches, special offers, or surveys.

Always grow your list.  There will be some contacts that become stale after a while.  Keep your list as fresh as possible.  Add new interested contacts, and even remove those that don’t interact over time.

Evaluate and improve results

For better effectiveness, follow best practices.  They change over time, so, always stay updated.  What works best today, will change with technology.

User experience counts.  After set-up, ensure that your opt-in process works properly.  Use a good CMS, and test it yourself for any tech issues.

Track insights and improve your results.  Stay in touch with your contacts, nurturing them.  Build trust, genuinely.

Conclusion

I shared blog freebie ideas for email list-building.  Choose any that works best for your blog.  Use lead magnets strategically, so that readers find your valuable content again.
