Is content creation worth it? You duly ask yourself ‘Should I be a content creator?’, as time is precious. Consider whether investing your time, energy, and other resources is reasonable.
I’ve been a solopreneur for 11 years (time of writing), and blogging for 7 already. Content creation is part of my activity. In addition to writing articles, I vlog through Instagram reels.
If you’re keen on finding the best blogging tools, take a look at what I use.
Is content creation worth it?
Generally, content creation tends to be mostly associated with videos. Through vlogging, you can share your work on social media. Bloggers can also publish videos within their articles.
Why you need it:
- Branding
- Communicate
- Entertain
- Inform
- Monetize
- Visibility
- SEO
- Lead generation
- Feedback
- Competitive
- Illustrative
- Passive income
- Targeting
- Engagement
- Relationship-building
I’ll further break down the list with details. You might not choose to embrace or relate to all 15 of them. However, they normally tend to be the basics.
Branding
Your brand benefits, be it for an individual such as a blogger, or any size of business. When it comes to individual content creators, branding has advantages. It helps your audience to identify and recognize you better.
I blog with my writing voice. When I post Instagram reels, I also show my personality. It’s part of my branding.
Communicate
Making videos is a great form of communication with your audience. They’re a highly appreciated format. Articles still perform, however, better to have both as far as possible.
Written text is good for passing on messages. However, when your audience sees, hears, and listens, they can retain better. Use different formats to make it easier for your viewers to grasp your message.
Entertain
Make entertaining videos that viewers want to watch. Fun is always welcomed, and connects people. It makes people eager for more.
Instagram is a platform where users want to have fun. Boring stuff doesn’t work. Even though my blog articles are more educational, I go easy on Instagram and chill as well.
Inform
Content creation supports information. You also pass on educational value through videos. Have a mix of different types, such as entertaining, educational, and selling.
Although Instagram is mostly fun, there’s space for educational content too. I post tips for skill-building, working smarter, and productivity. These are informative, yet with an entertaining approach.
Monetize
Don’t miss out on promoting your offers. It could be your own digital (or physical) products, services, or even affiliate products.
When someone follows you, they’re eager to see more of your posts. They expect to learn more after seeing your first post. Solve the pain points of your ideal clients through products, and inform them of any relevant offers.
Visibility
Being on social media increases visibility. Users search, not only on Google and other search engines but also on social media. Have a niche and attract the right audience.
I’m mostly a blogger, however, I also make reels. It’s fun to shoot videos. I also value building experience and learning other formats to diversify my content types.
SEO
SEO is still here! Even with changes happening all the time, it’s crucial. It’s also essential to diversify your traffic sources.
Relying on 1 option is not sustainable. Spread your risk by having different channels. Do what’s reasonable, avoid burnout, or hire a VA.
Lead generation
Generate and capture leads on autopilot. With a post that has visibility for long enough, you can benefit even while you’re asleep. Your helpful video informs viewers, and a CTA with a link directs viewers to the offer. Without knowing it, you’ve made a sale.
In my Instagram bio, I link to handy resources. My niche is bloggers working smarter. Bloggers and vloggers find useful tools that I used and tested.

Curious about the best blogging tools?
Feedback
Gather feedback from your followers while creating content. It’s a key benefit of it, and an opportunity to learn more.
Through feedback, such as comments and DMs, you find out more. It’s great to start a conversation and get to know the needs of your ideal audience. Doing so is easier for smaller accounts, compared to big ones. Use automation when possible.
Competitive
If you’re not creating content while your competitors are, you’re missing out. Be present where your ideal audience hangs out. Find them, and solve their issues.
Don’t spread yourself too thin by being everywhere. Take a strategic approach and focus on the right channels. Being everywhere is counter-productive.
Illustrative
Vlogging is often the best way to illustrate. You can shoot a scene, speak on camera, and even record your screen. Your demos are effective, and your viewers can see your body language and hear your tone of voice.
While Illustrations such as tables and graphs suit blog articles, videos take things a few steps further. I normally use images on my blog. However, you can even embed videos in your articles.
Passive income
Content creation opens the door to passive income streams. What you post can potentially drive leads for days, months, or even years. The duration often depends on the relevant platform you use.
YouTube videos are known to have a longer life span. On the other hand, Instagram reels are shorter-lived. Longer-form YouTube videos give you more time to promote products, versus shorts. In my other article, I highlight how I stay updated with the latest trends concerned.
Targeting
You can target your ideal audience by using the right keywords in captions. Add hashtags to show your posts to potentially interested users. If you use paid ads, use any available targeting features for the best results.
I prefer organic reach and have never boosted my blog’s social media posts so far. However, doing so has benefits that you might want to consider. My blog benefits from free SEO traffic, as well as other sources. However, on social media, relying on organic reach alone might not be satisfying enough. It all depends on your set goals and strategy.
Engagement
High-quality content stands out. It can go viral, bringing lots of engagement. Posting consistently, you’re more likely to gain engaged followers who can convert later on. Find tips for staying consistent in my other article.
High-quality videos might not be everyone’s goal. However, high-quality content should be. For example, I don’t have fancy equipment, and I use my smartphone. I also show the natural side of things, so that my viewers can relate to it for the better.
Relationship-building
With quality, consistency, and relevance, you can build better relationships. Your followers should know what to expect and find your posts helpful. Having a niche helps, and communicate it in your bio.
My main platform is my blog and social media is secondary. For better relationship-building, email is crucial. I share freebie opt-ins on my blog and social media channels so that those interested can join my email list.
Seize opportunities
Content creation opens up doors for opportunities. Take advantage of it, for the better. Work smarter, without burnout, and enjoy the fun side, too.
Conclusion
Is content creation worth it? Yes, if it serves your purpose. Working smarter, you reach your goals more conveniently.
