How to stay consistent with content creation?  If you’re wondering how to improve on it, look no further.  In my article, I share tips that I use and that work.

When I started blogging, it was more of a hobby.  I, however, valued having a schedule right from the start.  My passion turned into a side hustle.

I’ve always had intrinsic reasons for blogging.  As a solopreneur working on my terms, I wanted to network with my peers.  By sharing self-improvement tips, I learn more and support my readers.

I’ve always published one new article a week, for 6 years already (time of writing).  It’s a reasonable frequency for me.  Yours may be different.

The importance of consistent content creation

It’s crucial to show up regularly, and when expected.  When you do so, you show professionalism.  Your blog readers and social media followers can count on you.

You show reliability, and your audience can trust you.  It’s part of your brand image.  Being professional includes how you present yourself.

Just ask yourself something. Let’s say you decide to follow an account.  However, you notice that they’re not posting.  Aren’t you likely to unfollow them?

Having such good practices helps audience loyalty.  You need time to build a connection with the right audience.  They should see that you can, indeed, help them solve their pain points.

The benefits of frequent publishing

When it comes to the frequency of publishing, there’s no strict rule. Some approaches tend to work best. I found an interesting article on orbitmedia.com with stats on blogging frequency and much more.

‘The bloggers who publish the most are most likely to report “strong results.”’

Other than your audience taking you seriously, there are more reasons for consistent content creation.  It can improve online presence.  For example, the platform algorithms tend to favor frequent posting.

Ensure that you have high-quality content.  Alongside frequency, how well you solve pain points is also crucial.  You also want to have your ideal client persona in mind.

I share self-improvement tips for bloggers and digital solopreneurs.  Being in their shoes is a must to know what they experience.  As I live it daily, and for more than a decade, I see the needs naturally.  I also get feedback from my readers.

How to be more consistent?

1. Content creation schedule

Have a content calendar.  It helps to plan, organize, and guide you.  Keep your goals in mind.

Plan what to publish beforehand.  If you offer products, think of the season.  For example, I work with brands.  The end-of-year period is key, so I plan.

You should also consider the sales funnel.  Use the marketing funnel and the AIDA model.  Read more in my article on leveraging attraction marketing.

2. Go for realistic goals

Embrace consistency in content creation.  Set the right goals.  You may use the SMART model for setting specific, measurable, assignable, realistic, and time-bound objectives.

It can take time to see some results for your efforts.  Hard work is good, but working smarter is great.  Patience is also a must so that you don’t give up too soon.

Blogs can take years to see results.  Even social media takes some time to build a meaningful following.  Have a niche, understand the pain points, and post regularly.

Break down large chunks into smaller steps.  It’s encouraging and more achievable.  Reward yourself for each milestone achieved.

3. Manage your time productively

As with all areas in your personal and professional life, ensure good time management.  When you feel overwhelmed, review your priorities.  Focus on what you select.  Avoid burnout and take breaks.

I publish 1 new article every week.  I also update others each month.  On social media, I publish multiple times each week.

Individuals can’t be present all the time.  Avoid spreading yourself too thin.  It could be counterproductive.

4. Tools streamline your processes

Use software and apps to support you.  Save time by scheduling your posts.  Make things easier for yourself.

AI tools are handy.  However, ask yourself how you plan to use them.  I research, brainstorm, and draft outlines before creating my original work.

Templates are convenient.  There are endless ways you can use them.  Read to see how bloggers can save time through them.

Improve your workflow often.  What works today, may become outdated later on.  Review your priorities, and keep an eye on new and improved tools.

5. Repurpose and recycle

Life does get hectic sometimes.  You can find yourself juggling.  Make your life easier by sharing your existing work.

Repurpose, recycle, or reshare your best work.  Tweak it a little, and update if needed.  Sometimes, reshare as it is.

Your audience will benefit most when you freshen your work before sharing.  Take a few minutes to go through your article, update it, and repost it.  Share it on social media too.

These are simple ideas that can boost your motivation.  They also support frequency.  Read my other article, if you’d like more tips on repurposing

6. Industry leaders and best practices

Stay in touch with the latest industry news.  Industry experts share the latest developments.  Stay in the loop by subscribing to their newsletters.

Network with other creators.  Have a circle of peers, and support each other.  Bloggers, podcasters, as well as vloggers gain mutually when collaborating.

Find an accountability partner.  It brings the mutual benefits of having a supportive buddy.  Do some healthy competition, and encourage each other.

I do most of my networking online.  It suits my agenda and is most convenient.  As I work on my terms from home, I value Facebook groups and the WordPress Reader.  Bloggers can naturally support each other.

7. Measure stats and analyze

Know how well you’re doing.  Pinpoint any gaps.  Take measures to improve.

Your platform stats are valuable.  Check your insights to see progress.  Don’t just guess, but use relevant sources of data for better decisions.

Make decisions carefully.  Be it a new product launch, or a potential investment.  Use insights to understand what tends to work for you.

8. Align your strategy and actions

Set goals and have an action plan.  Ensure they all align with your strategy.  When you monetize your platforms, you should plan.  Don’t waste time and other resources.

Blogs tend to be more affordable to run than other types of businesses.  However, you do have to spend tons of time growing them.  Without a niche, you could end up with little or no results.

I ensure that I allocate my time thoughtfully.  Cut out any time-wasters.  I invest in online courses, ebooks, and tools, with my goals in mind.

Conclusion

How to stay consistent with content creation?  You’ve seen it in my article.  Plan and embrace a better approach.

  1. New Year’s Day 2018 I decided to do a vision board for the first time in my life. Create blog. Post 2 posts per month. Certainly, doable. All of my other goals are coming to fruition as well. Maybe not exactly on the timeline I wanted, but that is where grace comes in. Great post!

  2. The thing I love about blogging is that being consistent doesn’t necessarily mean doing it every day. With my blog, I know I can step away for a few days and not worry about it. But social media is so needy. You step away for a few days and your views/engagement goes down. Blogging is more forgiving.

  3. It’s true that the more we publish, the more our followers read and interact. The challenge is keeping up with everyone who supports us. I want to reciprocate, but it is getting more difficult as my audience increases.

    1. I’m only new to blogging (about 3 months) but I already feel this – I want to read as much as I write, to let people know that they’ve been seen and appreciated, but the more people comment (which you want) the more you have to reply (which I still want, it just time I hadn’t anticipated)… and now, ironically, I’ve done the same thing to you?!
