Social media leads visit your blog, site, or website with a purpose.  If they find what they expect, it’s valuable to them.  Learn more about how to make the most of the visits, both for your leads and yourself, as a site owner.

Blogging for 8 years, I’ve tried different things.  I admit that social referrals to blogs aren’t always easily achieved compared to other sources.  In addition, AIO is taking more and more from organic search. However, find some ideas that support making the most of social media visitors.

Social media leads

You have a website or a blog.  You also have a presence on social media.  Ideally, you’d want social media leads to visit and land on your site.

There are crucial reasons to drive traffic from social media to your blog.  Be it a blog or other type of site, you gain from site visits.  Your visitors, too, should benefit, provided they find the experience valuable.

Why visit your website?

It’s interesting to note whether social media platforms are indeed driving traffic to your site.  Checking your stats can confirm that.  You can also note any increases or decreases, as well as specific platform referrals.

Organic search often drives fewer referrals than before.  The SEO landscape keeps evolving.  Have a variety of traffic sources, including social media and email.

How both gain

Your visitors look for solutions.  Your social media account is likely to be relevant to your site’s offers.  Anyone who finds your post helpful, interesting, or promising can click through to visit your site for more.

As the site owner, you gain a potential new lead.  For hobby bloggers, a new visitor might consume content.  As for creators who monetize their blogs, it’s a potential income.

Why visitors bounce off

Have a targeted audience for your niche.  If someone lands on your site and finds it irrelevant, they’re likely to bounce off.  On the other hand, a good targeted audience on social media is more likely to stay interested in your site.

Short engagement time on your site isn’t what you want.  You want visitors to stay long enough, consuming your content.  Better still, you want them to find it helpful and take action through your CTAs.

How to encourage spending time

You can’t control who lands on your site.  However, you can take measures to attract the right targeted audience.  Post social media content that aligns with your site’s purpose.

It can be a challenge to ideally match your audience on a particular social media platform to your site.  For example, on X (formerly Twitter), you might have a more mature audience than on your Instagram or TikTok account.  Know their specific interests.

You can segment platform users based on their demographics and direct them to more relevant site pages.  For example, I use my blogging resources page for bloggers on X.  Likewise, I direct vloggers on Instagram to my vlogging resources page.

How to serve targeted visitors

By providing valuable posts on social media, use CTAs for users to find out more on your site.  Social media platforms often want users to stay there.  Your reason should be strong enough for them to click through to your site.

Offer freebie downloads to join your email list.  Offer a quiz or email course.  Encourage returning visitors, especially if you write articles or sell any products or services on your site.  See the blog gains of email in my other article.

Instagram examples

How to generate qualified leads from Instagram to your site?  I vlog on Instagram, as well as blog on my site.  Instagram is a platform that mostly retains its users consuming content there itself.

Asking Instagram users to visit your blog to read an article is often not helpful.  Firstly, reel watchers enjoy fun videos and might not want to read a blog post.  However, you do need to tell them about your offers.

I personally choose to use my link in bio.  However, using Manychat also helps when Instagrammers comment to receive a link.

Blog and social media overwhelm

If you overdo blog visit CTAs, it can be overwhelming and get ignored.  Be strategic and use them relevantly.  This helps your followers to see value and take action at the right time.

On the other hand, burnout can happen to you as a content creator.  Being on all platforms can be counterproductive.  Decide how many social platforms you might want to use as a blogger in my other article.

Conclusion

Serve your social media leads relevantly.  Find out what your ideal audience really needs when landing on your blog or other type of website.  Make the most of that knowledge to achieve better results.
