How many types of digital products are there?  If you’re planning to go for skill-building, choose the best option.  Read my article to find a list of possibilities, and how you can select the right one for yourself.

I enjoy my blogging journey, and publishing articles online.  I also partner with brands as an affiliate.  Given my self-improvement niche, the products are normally digital.

What are digital products and services?

They generally are non-tangible.  It’s easier to ship them for delivery, compared to physical items.  You can receive them instantly, unlike physical ones.

When it comes to services, there are endless examples.   Some popular ones tend to be freelancing and coaching.  They’re digital, as the work is delivered online.  Think of a graphic design project or talking to a life coach through Zoom.

Your skill-building gains

The benefits of digital products for learning are interesting to note.  They tend to be more affordable than courses held at venues.  They’re flexible and convenient.  They’re perfect at any age as well.

You can go for informal lessons or more formal ones. For example, in blogging, vlogging, or podcasting, you can learn informally. Being a content creator has a learning curve, but as a solopreneur, you progress at your own pace.

I have published an article about learning platforms. What to see how they support you? Read to find out more about their importance.

Plenty to choose from

The listed digital products and tools can support you a lot.  You gain through self-improvement and work smarter.  I’ve also curated a list of specific handy online tools for solopreneurs in my other post.

Firstly, personal growth enriches your knowledge.  Secondly, the use of the tools supports working smarter.  Both together, can bring better results for your content creation skills and productivity.

Everyone can gain generally

Generally, everyone can benefit in their life.  From students to corporate employees, business persons, and solopreneurs, all can find relevant options.  There are ebooks, online courses, and much more to choose from.

When it comes to virtually most industries, there are options for everyone.  In certain cases, having demonstrations at a physical venue can be best-suited.  However, videos could be appropriate as well.

How content creators benefit

My readers tend to be bloggers and digital solopreneurs.  This is also the niche I serve.  While I’ve already highlighted that everyone gains, I’ll give specific examples for content creators.

3 examples of content creators:

  • Bloggers
  • Vloggers
  • Podcasters

Bloggers

As a blogger, you can learn SEO, set up a self-hosted blog, affiliate marketing, and much more.  Use email templates to send out newsletters to your subscribers.  Join a membership site to learn, as well as create one for your ideal clients.

Vloggers

You can choose to hone your video production skills and learn to speak confidently on camera. I’ve taken 2 online courses that have equipped me for better reel videos on Instagram. If you’re keen on finding what online courses have helped me, read my helpful article on new vlogger skills.

Podcasters

As a podcaster, your voice is what you show to the world.  I don’t have a podcast, but I have done a few voiceover videos before.  To sharpen your podcasting skills, take online courses to improve your voice quality.  You can also use free stock music to brighten up your episodes.

Personal growth vs convenience

Considering all types of digital products, there are differences worth noting.  Some are more conducive for personal growth, and others for convenience.

Let’s see 3 types:

  • Do it Yourself (DIY)
  • Done with You (DWY)
  • Done for You (DFY)

The 3 types differ in some ways, and you should carefully consider each.  Based on your goals, available time, and budget, choose the most appropriate.  While one is best for skill-building, another is more convenient.

DIY is often best for learning.   It supports your self-improvement.  You do much on your own, so the options tend to be more affordable.

DWY is often when you find a coach.  Be it a life coach or a business coach, they guide you.  You pay them for their services, time, and maybe even expertise level.  This is often more expensive than DIY.

DFY may be in the form of a freelancer service. They do it all for you, so you don’t get to learn the skills.  It’s the most convenient, and likely more expensive than DWY.

I’ve used my personal opinion to illustrate DIY vs DWY vs DFY.  It’s my subjective evaluation to illustrate the idea.  Find the numbers 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest score, and 10 the highest.

When choosing your preferred method, you may consider the above.  Find your best balance.  For skills, do much on your own and practice.

Ongoing self-improvement goals

Always work on honing your skills.  Content creators work with technology, which changes all the time.  Be open to embracing new trends and better processes.

Anyone, and in any other field also benefit from learning.  Some activities are more dynamic than others.  However, everyone gains from adapting quickly.

It’s handy to know your best learning style.  Find out how you learn and retain best.  We all need to stay updated, formally or informally, and at any age.  Read my other post on learning methods.

Conclusion

Scrutinize my list of types of digital products.  Pin down your preferred options.  Select and embrace what’s best for your learning success.
