Are you keen on getting better at what you do?  Is enhanced productivity something that you aim for?  I’m sure that however well you perform (you may be the best in your field), yet, ongoing improvement and better productivity is likely to be a priority.  Read my blog post for tips on boosting productivity.

I’m not a productivity coach, but a self-improvement blogger.  I have a business degree, and after some corporate working and entrepreneurship experiences, I chose to work from home.  During my life, I’ve seen different types of work and have practiced improving productivity levels for myself.

Boost your productivity

Here are some tips that I’d love to share with my blog readers:

Morning routine

I’m sure you must have heard many times that having a morning routine is productive.  If you wake up early, have a series of things to do every morning, that has many benefits.  However, just doing so is part of being productive.  In other words, it’s a great way to set the tone for a productive day ahead, but, you have to do other things as well.

Get active through cardio

As part of my morning routine, I do cardio.  Currently, it’s jogging that I’m practicing.  It not only helps for my health but gives me a punch of energy, which I later on, during the day, use to get more work done.  Sufficient oxygen gives me the pep I need.

Have a proper plan for the day

Have a to-do and not-to-do list.  Know well what you want to achieve during the day and use time blocking.  This includes reviewing your list of tasks, prioritizing, and eliminating or postponing as needed.

Find a process that works for you

Everyone’s different, we have different types of work, work in different industries, our family life, and routines, all differ.  It’s best to test and find the best habits for yourself.

Regularly assess and improve your process

Once you’ve found a process that suits you, chances are, it will need some adjustments over time.  For example, if you first see that doing a certain task at a certain time of the day has been performing well for you, there may be changes in your work life that would require you to review (regularly or as and when needed) and modify it accordingly.

Document your journey

Keep a written record of things.  Document your journey to better understand and analyse your thoughts.  I love journaling about my personal goals!  It helps me to see how I need to improve.

Bridge the gap between your actual and set goals

By documenting your thoughts and progress, you can see what you need to work on more.  Suppose you’re aiming for productivity by doing a certain task in less time.  You may realize that you need to take a course to bridge the gap and develop new skills.

Use apps

There are many habit apps to choose from.  They help you change and develop your daily habits.  Know and set the right goals for yourself, track your daily habits… Boost productivity levels.

Some apps can assist you in organizing your work, collaborating professionally with your team, and much more.

Famous quotes

“On my desk I have three screens, synchronized to form a single desktop. I can drag items from one screen to the next. Once you have that large display area, you’ll never go back, because it has a direct impact on productivity.” – Bill Gates

“I will talk about two sets of things. One is how productivity and collaboration are reinventing the nature of work, and how this will be very important for the global economy. And two, data. In other words, the profound impact of digital technology that stems from data and the data feedback loop.” – Satya Nadella

“Being lazy does not mean that you do not create. In fact, lying around doing nothing is an important, nay crucial, part of the creative process. It is meaningless bustle that actually gets in the way of productivity. All we are really saying is, give peace a chance.” – Tom Hodgkinso

Conclusion

To sum up, I believe that many people desire to get better and more productive than what he/she was yesterday.  Experiment and find the best productivity routine for yourself, and keep on improving it.  Would you like to comment on your tips or experience?  If you enjoyed my article, please share it for others to see.  Thank you!!

  2. Good tips to work productively from home. I also do a kind of stocktake at the end of the day of the things I actually did on that day. It helps with training yourself to stay on task and actually do the work you intended.

  3. “Have a to-do and not-to-do list.” – This one is a great perspective! We are focused on the things we “have” to do, but didn’t notice that we are inserting things that we shouldn’t do, thus leaving us either procrastinating or just losing interest. Great tip @Sharvi! ^_^
