Having a morning routine is great! However, how do you ensure that you’re fully benefiting from it? How do you bridge the gap between your wonderful morning habits and ensuring enhanced long-term productivity and success?
Why a morning routine?
A morning routine is a series of things you do every morning. Taking the right morning habits supports you for a successful day ahead. It doesn’t replace hard work later on during the day, but rather sets the tone for a productive day!
Here are 10 tips for taking due advantage of your morning rituals holistically:
1. Kick start your day for productivity
Choosing at what time you’ll wake up, which actions you’ll take and how you’ll prioritize them are vital. How your morning begins often affects your whole day. For example, when you don’t get proper sleep, you could wake up feeling grumpy and lethargic for the whole day.
2. Make your bed
Making your bed has important benefits…
‘Admiral William McRaven explains how making your bed every morning can have a positive impact on your well-being and behavior throughout the rest of the day.’ – Business Insider.
3. Get excited
Want to make the most of your mornings? Get excited by planning for things to do when you wake up! Plan for activities that you truly look forward to… Don’t hit the snooze button, smile and get up.
4. Happiness hormones
Do cardio for a healthy rise in happiness hormones. They’re essential and make you feel at your very best! When you plan for activities that you truly enjoy, then you’ll feel motivated to leave your bed.
5. Meditation
You could incorporate mindful meditation or another technique that you prefer into your morning routine. I feel serene and energized by practicing daily. It also keeps me sharp during the day.
6. Personal growth
Use your morning time to build on your knowledge, learn a new skill, follow an online course, journal, read or even write a book… If you plan to wake up earlier than before, then doing something meaningful is primordial. Use the extra few minutes or hours in full tranquility early mornings to work on your goals.
7. Nutrition
Always take a good breakfast. Never skip it, as you’re likely to suffer from doing so later on. Go for a healthy and balanced diet and drink lots of water during the day.
8. Design your routine
Now that you’ve considered and chosen what activities are best for you, get down with pen and paper to write down your timed action plan (your morning routine itself!) or use an app to assist you.
9. Review and update
Review and update your routine as and when needed to keep it relevant and motivating. It happens that what used to work before, now needs to be improved. Try out new things and document your journey. You’ll get better at designing your best morning routine!
10. Once at work
Whether you leave home for the office, are self-employed or work from home, make the most of the rest of the day, every single day… Use the momentum you build from your special morning groove, in favor of better productivity during the day!
Conclusion
Having a morning routine has diverse benefits. Experiment and design the best one for yourself and then leverage it for your success! Do you have any tips of your own? Please comment below. If you know anyone who could benefit from this post, please share it. Thank you!!

Making your bed – Yes – a big one for me – as it sets the tone for an evening sleep routine as well. Something I like to do is to create an environment where I wake up to something sensually beautiful every morning. I don’t use an alarm and rely my natural body clock – but if I was to use an alarm I’d use music that inspired me. I have a beautiful view of the ocean to wake up to, but if I didn’t have that, I’d put up a picture, or drapes, or light fitting or something beautiful. The smell of bread, or coffee or a scent you like. Sheets that feel nice against the skin. Whatever morning you have – wake up beautiful xoxo.

I can’t start the day without having breakfast. As the say goes breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And another one says ‘Eat glitter for breakfast and then shine all day.
