Do you sometimes find yourself in situations where you need to struggle to complete work within a given deadline while maintaining the quality of your project?  This could be an overwhelming and stressful experience.  Read my blog post to see how to save time and yet accomplish work joyfully.

I’m a self-improvement blogger and feel that getting more work done in less time is a wonderful thing.  While everyday life has its ups and downs, it’s natural that some days are more hectic than others.  Fortunately, you can make the most of some handy approaches and hacks to give your best.

Find 14 tips that help to better finish tasks on time joyfully (I embrace them and see the benefits):

1. Productivity skills

Generally speaking, productivity levels directly affect performance at work.  With better skills, we can all achieve better quality results and on time.  Productivity can be a natural inborn habit for some, but fortunately, it can be voluntarily developed by most people for the better!

2. Use your calendar

A rather simple point to make, and many could even say ‘who has never heard of that?’.  However, saving tasks, events, or reminders to your digital calendar is key to getting things done when you have to.  You may instead prefer jotting down on paper if that’s more convenient. Many things can indeed be overlooked and forgotten if not added to your calendar.

3. To-dos and not-to-dos

Having a daily to-do list guides you with what should be achieved, giving priority to important and urgent things.  A not-to-do list, on the other hand, can be effective in eliminating those things that aren’t worth your time.

4. Work smart

Working smart goes further than just working hard.  There are better ways to complete work and accomplish things that you aim for.  Less of the stress, but work on getting desired results while saving time.

5. Stay focused

Getting distracted by petty things will take your attention elsewhere.  Staying focused on what matters will ensure that things progress better.  Live in the moment, block away undue disturbances, set boundaries, and make the most of precious time.

6. Eliminate time-wasters

Similar to staying focused on important work, create an environment where time-wasters don’t have a place.  Disable unnecessary notifications, avoid checking social media needlessly, don’t join meetings that aren’t a priority.  Find more time-wasters of your own and get rid of them for the better.

7. No duplication of work

Duplication of work is needless.  If things are already been done, then they shouldn’t be repeated futilely.  This will save time so that you can concentrate on key matters.

8. Batch similar tasks

Batching similar tasks together helps.  I love saving all my social media post creation and scheduling before lunch and do other things after lunch.  This approach helps me to stay productive and save time as well.

9. Get into the flow

The ‘flow’ is a state which is described as follows…

‘In positive psychology, a flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting transformation in one’s sense of time.’ – as on Wikipedia

Use this for inspiration, stay motivated, and work successfully.

10. Automate

Automate tasks that you can.  Many apps have a free basic plan, and you only need to upgrade to premium plans for extra features, while others only give a free trial.  I find many benefits in scheduling my social media and blog posts in advance.  Meanwhile, I carry on with things such as writing blog posts or updating older ones, while my posts get published automatically and on time!

11. Delegate

Delegate work that doesn’t need your full attention.  This helps to give enough time for those projects that only you can do.  The delegation can also help your junior staff to learn and improve skills at work.  An alternative to delegation could be outsourcing.

12. Better processes

Find better processes and best industry practices.  Things change often, and the way you work today can be of less value sometime after.  Remain updated, try out new ways of doing things, learn from the experts.  In other words, be open to embracing better methods.

13. Best app or software

Similar to better practices, there could be better apps or software to use.  Even when one app has been working great for a long time, you could be better off using a new one later.  There could be more helpful features, the price could be lower for the same results, and so on.  Many companies need to customize the software to the specific needs of their organizations.

14. Clock-off

Last but not least, do clock off when you have to.  To perform at a high level, accomplish work, while saving time joyfully, do relax, unwind, and recharge. It helps against lethargy and supports better vitality. Having proper sleep, a healthy nutritious diet, regular exercise, and so on are just the basics of self-care that you deserve daily.

  1. Put simply, batch processing is the process by which a computer completes batches of jobs, often simultaneously, in non-stop, sequential order. It’s also a command that ensures large jobs are computed in small parts for efficiency during the debugging process.

  4. Love this list! All very helpful for a Self-Employed person such as myself who is doing so many things at the same time. Delegation is not very viable as of the moment.

  5. Out of all of these, I definitely resonate with the to-do list! I feel like I am so much more productive if I can sit down and have a 10-minute “dump” session of all my thoughts at the beginning of the day!
