Do blogs still exist?  With AI, social media, and all, asking yourself what happened to blogs is natural.  Read my article to find out more.

I’ve been into blogging for 7 years now.  I admit that much has changed since I started.  Things also change constantly in a tech environment.  However, I’m firmly going on, and so are so many other bloggers.

Do blogs still exist?

You rightly ask about the future of blogging.  Either as a writer, a reader, or both, you’re concerned.  You invest your time and other resources and duly question it.

Site owners want to know if their hobby, side hustle, or full-time business can survive.  Readers, on the other hand, might ask if given there are AI chatbots and overviews, are sites a thing.  While much isn’t the same, blogs are still relevant.

This is an article extract from Wix, with recent stats:

According to Tech Business News, there are thought to be more than 600 million blogs in the world as of 2025, representing almost a third (31.6%) of all websites.

Are blogs outdated?

Yes and No!  Compared to other platforms, such as social media, text can seem boring.  Especially for the younger ones, videos are often the best choice.  Everyone enjoys videos, including myself.  However, different age groups often have different preferences.

I write on my site, yet vlog on Instagram.  Writing is my primary activity and my site is my main platform.  I, however, admire the importance of vlogging as well.

Reasons why blogs are still relevant:

  • Detailed articles
  • Article visibility
  • Powerful digital marketing tool
  • Compliments vlogging
  • Direct and referral traffic
  • Works with social media
  • Works with email marketing

This list above is about the reasons, as well as its strengths and importance.  Certain things are best achieved by reading articles.  Other formats lack certain characteristics.

Relevant and still here

The length and depth of content in an article often outweigh short social media posts.  While long-form YouTube videos often do cover much, most other social media posts don’t.  This is a great advantage of articles.

Your articles can potentially drive free organic traffic for years.  On the other hand, social media posts are shorter-lived.  Pinterest and YouTube are also search engines and can be more long-term.

Why blog if nobody reads it?

Stats cited in my post show that articles are still going strong.  In case you ask yourself ‘Why is no one reading my blog?’, you might be doing something wrong.  Keeping up with the latest best practices helps.

Some tips that support you:

  • Choose the best web host for yourself
  • Capture leads through opt-ins for repeat readers
  • Optimize your SEO

Platforms & hosts

Pick the best platform to publish articles, as I detailed in my other post.  Based on your monetization goals, select your preferred platform.  Although this site is currently on WordPress.com, I’ve also known WordPress.org, and others over the years.

After your platform, you should choose your web host carefully.  This is crucial for site speed, performance, and more.  You don’t want your visitors to bounce off due to poor loading time and UX.

Want to see how much the best web hosts cost?  Find the most popular ones, affordability tips, and their monthly price range in my other post.

Email opt-ins

Once you have visitors on your site, invite them to stay in touch.  Offer a relevant lead magnet, such as a free checklist, ebook, webinar, or tool.  Capture leads and make it easier for them to find you again through email.

Once on your list, send helpful content weekly.  Your email headline and greetings should be carefully thought through.  It affects open rates and potential clicks to your site.

There are many email marketing services available.  If you’re looking for an easy-to-use, affordable, and helpful option, MailerLite is the one.

Optimize for SEO

SEO is relevant even now.  Although AI has changed a lot and continues to do so ongoingly, search engines’ organic traffic still brings results.

Search Engine Optimization tools tend to be pricey.  However, there are also more affordable options.  Also find free basic plan options, for lighter use in my other post.

Multiple traffic sources

Last but not least, maximize your visibility by being on different platforms.  Social media is helpful to drive traffic to your site.  Email marketing is one of the best ways to stay in touch.  AI referral traffic is also helpful.

Being a solopreneur content creator, I choose my social media presence carefully.  Being everywhere can lead individuals to burnout.  I focus on the relevant ones, based on my audience, and post most often on X and Pinterest.

Blogging is still relevant, but things have changed.  Stay updated with developments.  Adopt proven best practices, and diversify your traffic sources.

Conclusion

Do blogs still exist?  Of course, they do and will be around for a very long time.  Optimize your site through the best web host, email marketing service, and SEO tool.  Embrace proven best practices ongoingly.
