Do you sometimes find yourself wondering how to organize parties while you’re on a budget? Do you feel that without spending a fortune, your celebrations will fail? Think carefully… you can, in fact, make the most of enjoyment by going for certain types of events!
I’ll share with you 12 ideas that help when you’re controlling your expenses and that are real fun to experience as well:
1. Home karaoke
Have a get-together with family/friends at home. Sing karaoke with your favourite songs. Such an event focuses on togetherness and fun activities, while expensive food and decoration aren’t compulsory.
“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.” – Buddha
2. Picnic
Go for a picnic and sit around together. Enjoy nature and some home-made sandwiches. With no screen time, you can all talk to each other face-to-face.
3. Coffee date
Plan to meet up with your special one at a coffee shop. I personally find that it’s easier to make the most of conversations over a cup of coffee than during a 3-course meal. Proper communication fosters healthy relationships.
4. Tea party
A tea party is also a great way to have everyone interacting with each other. Brew tea and arrange for some savories and pastries. You can even provide herbal tea for detox, which can be easily made from infusing natural ingredients from your kitchen.

5. Pizza party
Order pizza with home delivery. Watch a movie or play games together. It’s convenient and doesn’t need much preparation.
6. Bring and share
Plan a party where everyone brings one dish for sharing. This not only is economical but makes everyone participate. It’s convenient for the organizer when others lend a hand. You normally need to be close enough to your guests (knowing them informally) to send such an invitation.
“Money doesn’t mean anything to me. I’ve made a lot of money, but I want to enjoy life and not stress myself building my bank account. I give lots away and live simply, mostly out of a suitcase in hotels. We all know that good health is much more important.” Keanu Reeves
7. Window shopping
Go to the mall with your gang and find interesting clothes. Compare quality and price. Take calculated decisions for the best deals that you won’t regret!
8. Campfire night
Gather around cosy heat (taking due care of environmental and safety measures). Tell stories, play the guitar and sing songs. Have a simple barbecue for dinner.
9. Nature hiking
Plan for hiking at a mountain, nature park or near a river. If you love natural surroundings, this would be a great break for you! Having a treasure hunt helps consolidate team-building.
10. Beach day
Go to the seaside for a swim. Breathe fresh air and relax. Bring a picnic lunch to relish together.

11. Family reunion
You need to highlight something important to your extended family or make a major announcement? Don’t just send text messages or phone them one by one. Organise a reunion for the experience of a face-to-face meeting and also celebrate togetherness.
12. Alumni reunion
Plan a get-together with former classmates. It’s important to maintain contact, at least from time to time and strengthen your networks. You’re likely to help each other personally/professionally, at any time during a lifetime. You can opt for a simple informal get-together.
Conclusion
It’s possible to party, meet family/friends and have a great time without breaking the bank. While on a budget, choose activities that focus on the experience of togetherness instead of expensive things that don’t mean much. True happiness comes from within! Do you have any tips to share? Please do so. Thank you!!

Lots of good tips here, Sharvina. Living in the country, we’ve done the campfire many times. At Christmas, we do karaoke at my parent’s house. Every time we do it, someone has to sing ‘The Ring of Fire,’ by Johnny Cash and my wife HATES that song! 🙂 I enjoy watching her facial expression whenever that song comes up.

We have a group of friends that do a “bring and share” night once per month. We all have kids the same age, so we pick a theme, each make something different, and all hang out together. Once it cools off we have talked about doing a campfire night, too.

🙂 I would like to point out, that there are times when window shopping can lead to actually shopping; which results in spending money that you never had intentions of spending.
Great suggestions nonetheless!
