Get repeat visitors instead of working too hard and struggling.  Work smarter by embracing some handy approaches.  Find the benefits of having readers come back for more in my article.

My self-improvement blog readers are mostly bloggers and solopreneurs.  Blogging and solopreneurship are both activities that I live by daily.  It normally takes much time, even years to build a loyal readership.

Hard work is good, but working smarter is best.  You can get free traffic, and/or use paid sources.  Encourage your ideal readers to come back for more by genuinely providing value.

Benefits of repeat visitors

Get repeat visitors to your blog or other website.  Doing so has multiple benefits.  Don’t miss out on them.

The gains:

  1. Relationship-building
  2. Stronger community
  3. Better engagement rate
  4. Increased brand loyalty
  5. Higher level of trust
  6. Potentially better conversion rates
  7. Higher Customer Lifetime Value
  8. Potential increased revenue
  9. Lower marketing costs
  10. Decreased bounce rate
  11. Better quality readership
  12. Effective analytics and results

It builds a better-quality relationship with your leads.  As readers know you, they can relate, and opt to visit multiple times.

You may note I used ‘potential’ increased revenue in my list.  That’s because more visitors don’t automatically mean more sales.  Certain blogs might have hundreds of thousands or even millions of unique monthly visitors.  However, the revenue might not always be as impressive.

Have a good strategy to attract, retain, and nurture the right types of leads.  That’s why selecting your niche carefully is crucial.

Repeat visitors benefit your marketing budget.  They already know your blog and are more likely to convert.  You also gain from a reduced bounce rate, as they stick around longer.

With readers coming back, you collect better-quality data.  You can, therefore, measure results.  Gain from better quality evaluation, and make better decisions.

5 must-haves for blogging strategy

Your strategy is larger and more comprehensive.  However, include these 5 things as part of it.  Doing so supports getting readers back to your site.

Here they are:

  1. Choose your platform
  2. Measure through analytics
  3. SEO for free organic search
  4. Leverage social media
  5. Build an email list

This short list includes handy must-haves.  Which is more important, strategy vs tactics? You need both, as they go hand in hand.

Choose your platform

I started as a hobby and still use the WordPress.com platform. My blog gradually turned into a side hustle.  While it’s convenient, it does lack certain things.  I’ve experienced different platform options.

Choose where you want to post articles strategically.  Consider the pros and cons of available options.  Select an easier CMS or the self-hosted version.

Measure through analytics

Track your blog performance using analytics tools.  Different types of insight are available.  Use your set goals as a guide in determining which ones you want to prioritize.

To locate your returning visitors in Google Analytics, find active users, new users, and returning users.  This indicates how many are coming back.  It’s great to have new visitors.  However, have a strategy to encourage them to visit again.

I currently use GA4 and Jetpack insights tools.  Although peeking at my stats helps, I also take the time to make proper reports.  Monthly and quarterly reporting helps me identify trends and what to take action on.

SEO for free organic search

Search Engine Optimization is still a thing.  Although it changes often (or even continuously), it brings benefits.  Work smart and aim for articles that can drive traffic for months, or even years.

When I initially started blogging as a hobby, I didn’t know about SEO best practices.  I, however, found its importance soon.  Ever since I’ve used an SEO tool, I’ve received better results.

Leverage social media

Never rely on a unique source of traffic.  Spread your risks by using different options instead.  Take on as much as possible, while avoiding burnout.

My blog is on X, Facebook, and Instagram.  I pin a few times a week to Pinterest too.  I vary the platforms as well as the content formats.  While I value posting consistently, I also prioritize no burnout and productivity.

Build an email list

Last but not least, start and grow an email list.  This is the best one of all.  Contact your list when you need to, without depending on platform algorithms.

Using lead magnets, you can attract the right types of readers.  Those who choose to opt in will receive future emails.  Your subscribers give you permission to email them and welcome your communications.

When I was still new, I heard about starting a list.  I also learned how crucial it is.  I recommend anyone getting subscribers right from the start, as far as possible.
