Content creation trends are crucial to know about.  If you want to stay on top of things, you must remain informed.  Bloggers, vloggers, and podcasters, all benefit from staying alert.

Content creation evolves

Content creation is an ever-evolving activity.  From bloggers to vloggers and podcasters, everyone faces it.  The digital marketing landscape is dynamic.

Some blog articles can be evergreen, depending on the topic.  On the other hand, vlogging, especially short-form videos tends to be short-lived.  Read more in my other post about evergreen vs seasonal posts.

Why should you care

Be it blogging, vlogging, or podcasting, all have trends.  These change and if you’re not keeping up, you’ll see the results.  There are, fortunately, helpful ways to stay updated with the relevant changes.

You need to be versatile, embracing new trends.  Stay on top of things and remain updated.  Build and hone your skills accordingly.  However, work smart to avoid burnout, while achieving your goals.

The perils of an outdated approach

Content creation involves the internet and technology.  Blogs and social media platforms evolve.  You need to adapt your content strategy for the better.

Outdated approaches stop working sooner or later.  Visitors will notice an outdated blog and bounce off.  It’s the same on social media.

How to keep up

It’s often challenging to stay informed about everything.  Information overload happens everywhere and all the time.  You need to focus on fewer things and those that are most crucial and relevant.

Use handy tools to support you.  Also, stay informed about industry news.  I’ll highlight examples of how I keep track of important new trends.

Social Media challenges

Social media is unpredictable and can drive me crazy on certain days.  You can’t rely on social media algorithms.

For an illustrative example:

“I can’t tell why Instagram gave me nice views for my last reel but it decided the next one isn’t good.  To my knowledge, I followed the same practices.”

New trends emerge, and practicing them is strongly recommended.  Even without any guarantee of success, I still chose to test it.  Insights help to locate any drops or increases.

Blogging evolves often

Blogging trends tend not to change as often as social media.  However, they still evolve.  What works now, won’t work in the future.

With AI, content creation looks easier than ever.  Just enter a prompt and get the work done automatically.  However, blogs tend to see declines, if they’re not adding personal human intervention to the work produced.

I prefer original work with my writing voice.  Genuineness shows, especially on video.  When writing it does come across as well, as people tend to prefer human touch over automation.

SEO changes and tools

Search Engine Optimization is not only for Google, but all platforms.  You need it everywhere and must adapt your content accordingly.  Everywhere means where your target audience is present.

In my example, I’ll list Pinterest, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook for my blogging traffic.  These are more likely to drive site visitors.  I’m also on Instagram, however, it’s mostly for vlogging and hardly brings visitors to my blog.

When it comes to SEO content creation trends, you may ask if it’s still worth it.  Read my other article to see how it is, and how it evolves.  Find my approach to staying updated with SEO relevantly, including the tools I use.

Find out from peers

Visit online forums such as Reddit to see what’s happening.  Join relevant subreddits and remain active.  Find out what your peers are experiencing.

I find Reddit valuable, as well as Facebook groups.  You can get updated information in the form of experiences.  Share your thoughts and find ideas from others.

Subscribe to industry leader updates

Join newsletters of the leading companies.  Follow them on social media.  They are the first to know of many new emerging trends.

I subscribe to newsletters that provide value.  When I see that something new comes, I take note.  I then consider putting it to practice, if it’s relevant to my niche.

Attend handy webinars

Similar to newsletters, attending webinars is helpful.  Interactive webinars are often engaging and can last over 1 hour.  They’re timely for interesting trends.

I often register for SEO webinars.  They support me in lots of ways.  I also find out if I need to tweak my content creation plan.

Be present at physical events

Attending events at venues is great.  You meet face-to-face with the presenters.  You also get to network with other bloggers, vloggers, and podcasters.

I don’t go to such events very much.  Given my agenda, most of my trend updates are online for convenience.  It’s, however, best to have a blend of both types.

Competitor benchmarking

Keep an eye on similar accounts to watch out for trends.  Even influencers are the first to show what’s new.  Don’t copy them, but note what works, and find your personalized style for it.

I take a look at relevant accounts to see what works.  I note any new emerging trends.  I then decide to test it, if it’s relevant.

Best practices and tech

Once more from industry leaders, stay informed about the latest best practices.  When new technology comes, be the first to know.  Also, note any new and relevant apps.

In vlogging, editing techniques are worth noting.  Follow the Instagram Creators account to receive new trends and features released.  I learn lots of new things for free from their account.

A/B testing for best option

Test 2 versions of your content and compare.  It’s a feature available on certain platforms.  The better copy will be pushed towards more recipients for better performance.

Community building and feedback

Find out about new trends through feedback.  Your community of bloggers, vloggers, or podcasters is likely to discuss key issues.  More importantly, pay attention to what your readers and followers say.

I learn a lot through the comments that I receive on my blog.  This is valuable feedback.  Know what your ideal audience needs and create content to solve it.

Conclusion

Trends in content creation change often in blogging.  In vlogging, social media changes almost constantly.  To catch the eyes of your ideal audience, stay updated by using the tips I listed in my article.  Try out newer ways and improve your results.

  1. Thanks for the great tips Sharvi. It is such a crazy thing. For content, what is popular one day can all of a sudden be blah the next. Trying to stay ahead and keep abreast of what is relevent in the moment is key especially for us writers.
