Skincare is important for everyone! It’s not only the concern of certain people but truly all of us. Read my blog post to see how having a proper daily skincare routine is vital for you.
Disclaimer: My blog is to be used for general information, inspirational, and motivational purposes. I share things that I’ve learnt and experienced. In case of need, do seek help from a professional in the relevant field.
As a self-improvement blogger, I enjoy sharing self-care tips with my blog readers. In this post, I’ll highlight the importance of regular skincare for everyone…
The skin is an organ
Our skin is the largest organ of the human body, having various important functions…
‘Functions of the skin
Provides a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal and physical injury and hazardous substances.
Prevents loss of moisture.
Reduces harmful effects of UV radiation.
Acts as a sensory organ (touch, detects temperature).
Helps regulate temperature.
An immune organ to detect infections etc.
Production of vitamin D’
– as on the Health and Safety Executive (UK government agency) website.
Skin and age
Caring for your skin is important at every age. While you’re still younger, you naturally benefit from smooth and supple skin texture. As you age, your skin gradually loses moisture and elasticity, resulting in the formation of lines and loss in firmness.
My daily skincare routine
My morning skincare routine consists of cleansing, to remove dust, sebum (the natural oil of the skin), and other types of skin debris. Toning helps remove excess cleanser left on the skin, tightens the pores, firming the skin. Then, I apply a serum (optional), eye cream and a moisturizer. Before going outdoors, my sunscreen is a must, to help prevent sunburn, dehydration and premature wrinkling. I prefer light day makeup, most of the time.
At night, before bedtime, my routine consists of cleansing, toning, application of a serum (optional), eye cream and moisturizer or night cream.
Skincare for men
For the gents, the morning routine is likely to be cleansing, shaving and application of aftershave or another available product, followed by a sunscreen.

Skincare for kids
For the little ones, washing their face with a gentle product, followed by a light moisturizer, sun protection or another available product, adapted to their age (for having tender skin).
Nutrition and proper sleep
I always drink plenty of water daily, consume fresh vegetables, fruits, exercise while breathing fresh air, and prefer having enough sleep (recommended around 8 hours). Children and teens tend to need more sleep, depending on their age.
More skincare products
Other important products to use on a weekly/bi-weekly basis (depending on your skin type), are the scrub, to help remove the layer of dead skin cells, a facial mask for deep moisturization, nourishment and other benefits. Spa products for body skincare include the shower gel, scrub, relaxation bath salts, slimming creams, and more.
The products you choose will depend on your skin type, skin condition, brand preference, budget, media, probably also on your group of friends (peer influence).
Skincare as a therapy
Professional beauty therapy services are offered in beauty salons and spas. You may choose to treat yourself to them or could instead prefer pampering yourself at home, and on a budget. Take the time to relax and unwind during your sessions, whichever you choose!

Conclusion
To sum up, proper skincare is indeed vital for everyone. Our skin is such an important organ, having great functions, and makes us look our best when cared for. Do you have a daily skincare routine? If you know someone who should read this, please share my blog post. Thank you!!

I think people really underestimate the water and sleep factor plays on good skin care, but it true. As a master cosmetologist in a past career life, esthetics was a big part of the state boards testing and it covers all of this.

I definitely treat skincare as a form of self care! I love to incorporate not only products but tools at home too. A facial steamer, crystal roller, or gua sha tool can also make a world of difference!

I love the way you put different skincare routines for different people! Sometimes, some people think of skincare as a one size fits all, but that is not the case. All of us have different ways on how we should be taking care of our skins because we also have different skin concerns.
